Colors to wear in autumn: 5 combinations with boho garments

To combine colors in autumn, start with a garment you already want to wear and choose how to pair it. A printed dress offers various shades you can repeat; an embroidered jacket provides a base and a pattern; a plain blouse leaves more room for contrast.

These five proposals serve to build outfits with boho garments and wardrobe staples. They are styling ideas, not a list of mandatory colors or a classification of trends.

The five combinations at a glance

Distribute the color according to the main garment
Palette Main garment How to pair it
Burgundy and camel Burgundy dress or jacket Camel layer and dark footwear
Navy blue and gold Embroidered navy jacket Plain base and a small accessory
Ecru and chocolate Ecru blouse or dress Brown trousers, boots, or coat
Black and cream Black dress or light blouse A second garment in the opposite tone
Olive green and gray Plain or embroidered green garment Gray knit and simple accessories

1. Burgundy and camel: a deep color with a light layer

Start with a burgundy dress and add a camel jacket. You can keep the footwear in dark brown or black and repeat the light shade in a small handbag. If you prefer the camel to stand out less, use it only in the accessory and choose a layer close to the color of the dress.

The Granada Dress combines a floral print in wine and gold tones, a wrap neckline, and velvet details on the tie-belt and cuffs. By already incorporating several motifs, it allows you to take a tone from the print itself to resolve the rest.

Place the garments together in natural light before deciding. Two different burgundies can also coexist: compare whether you like the difference or if you prefer to introduce a neutral between them. You will find more alternatives in how to combine a maroon dress.

2. Navy blue and gold: use the embroidery as a connection

A navy jacket with gold embroidery brings both tones together in a single piece. To wear it, try a navy base with plain trousers and a top, or swap the top for an ecru one. The gold can stay in the embroidery; you don't need to add a metallic handbag, earrings, and shoes.

The Bagdad Jacket is described in its product sheet as a navy blue cotton velvet jacket with gold floral embroidery, a shirt collar, buttons, and patch pockets. It is an example of how the pattern can link a dark base with a small warm accessory.

If you want to add jewelry, first check how much space remains between the neckline and the embroidery. The guide on how to combine gold embroidery develops that choice.

3. Ecru and chocolate: change the amount of each tone

An ecru dress with chocolate boots leaves most of the outfit's surface in light colors. Brown trousers with an ecru blouse invert the distribution. Both formulas allow you to use the same accessories, even if they look different visually.

To add a third piece, try camel if you are looking for a gradual transition or black if you want more contrast. It is not necessary for all browns to be identical. With openwork garments, keep in mind that the color of the inner base can also form part of the visible palette.

4. Black and cream: combine surfaces, as well as colors

A cream blouse with black trousers is a base that is easy to modify. You can add a black jacket to focus the light area on your face or a cream jacket to expand that surface. A black dress with light embroidery already incorporates a version of the same combination.

If the whole outfit seems too uniform to you, try a different texture in a single garment: knitwear, embroidery, or a textured accessory. Changing the texture can add interest without adding another color.

5. Olive green and gray: an alternative to earth tones

Try an olive green garment with medium gray knitwear and black footwear. If the green already has a print, choose a plain gray so that both can be distinguished. For a lighter version, replace the medium gray with a soft one and carry an ecru handbag.

Intensity matters more than the commercial color name. Compare the actual garments: two pieces called "olive" can look very different from each other.

How to choose without buying a whole outfit

Take a photo of the garment you want to wear and check what coat, shoes, and bag you have. Try two complete options before adding anything to the cart. In the new season collection you can compare designs, but the palette can also be resolved with your current wardrobe.

Should shoes and the bag match?

No. You can relate one to the main garment and use the other as a contrast. Look at both with the outer layer on, because it will also be part of the outfit.
